Crooked teeth.?

I have crooked front teeth but do not want braces or invisalign, do I have another option?

Crooked teeth.?
You have the option of direct or indirect veneers. Direct veneers are also called bondings or resins. They are composite or plastic like material. Indirect Veneers are porcelain veneers. The difference is of course the type of material and the longevity. Porcelain lasts longer and is prettier and is more costly. Both procedure will need you to have cosmetic recountouring of the teeth and depending on the type of porcelain used, the amount of tooth structure removed is different. The most conservatives veneers can be done using feldspathic porcelains. http://www.drsamsavar.com

Before deciding if veneers are for you or not, you should see if your local cosmetic dentist could do a mock up for you to show you how your teeth will look before you have anything irreversible done to them. The number of teeth that needs to be done to give you a desired smile should be decided then. But I should tell you that with all due respect to the previous post one of the most common mistakes I see in smile makeovers is doing only 6 veneers. It has to be 4 or 8 or more but never six. It just looks unfinshed. good luck
Reply:No. Teeth do not self correct. You%26#039;ll need braces or invisalign. Or if they%26#039;re not really all that crooked, just deal with them. I%26#039;ve had braces, which makes it so my teeth don%26#039;t look like my dad%26#039;s THANK GOD, but after the braces came off my teeth settled and one of my lower teeth is set back behind the others. It%26#039;s just a little crooked, and sometimes not being perfect is sexy to guys :D
Reply:lumineers....
Reply:I have crooked teeth and I%26#039;m getting braces, not only because I want straight teeth, it%26#039;s also because of oral hygiene. I will have a less risk of getting gingivitis, or even mouth cancer. You don%26#039;t have any other options. If you%26#039;re afraid of what people are going to think of you. Don%26#039;t worry about it, just think about the outcome.
Reply:Another option to orthodontic work would be crowns or veneers. These are porcelain restorations which are placed on the teeth. Veneers are usually the way to go on the anterior teeth and the dentist can change the shape of your teeth to give the a more straight look. Veneers are made out of porcelain and are simialr to placing a fake fingernail on your teeth. They will cover the entire anterior ( front surface ) of the tooth and on the posterior ( back) sideof the tooth they go up about 1/3 of the way. They are permanently adhered to to the tooth. However, veneers are usually not placed on the mandibular arch ( lower arch ) and are primarily used on the maxillary ( top ) teeth. Usually veneers can be placed on the top 6 front teeth and crowns ( porcelain over metal ) are placed on the back teeth.

Veneers are considered cosmetic and are usually more expensive and not typically covered by insurance.

I am not sure what your reasons to not wanting braces are, but here is another thing to consider. When teeth are misaligned, sometimes braces are helpful in not only correcting this misalignment, but also correcting your bite if it is not normal either.

My best advice to you would be to consult with a DDS who specializes in cosmetic dentistry and who can also show you pictures of patients he has performed veneers on for cosmetic purposes. These veneers are fabricated at a dental lab the dentist uses and their workmanship is just as important as the dentist%26#039;s since they are ones actually making them. If you do decide to go with veneers, consult with a few DDS%26#039;s and see their patient pictures of work they have done.

This procedure will usually take 2 appointments...the first one would be for the dentist to prepare the teeth. This is done by shaving a little off each surface of the tooth so the veneer has room to be placed on the tooth. You would leave the office with temporary restorations on the teeth that were prepared. These temporary crowns/veneers are usually made out of a strong acrylic material that are temporarily glued onto the teeth. While wearing these you would need to be careful from chewing on or biting on hard foods as they can break and you would have to have the temps redone. At the second appt. the veneers/crowns would be placed given that the shape and shade are right and they fit perfectly. At that time the tooth would be prepared....dried and etched to receive the permanent restorations. If for some reason, they are not correct, they would be sent back to the lab until they were correct and you would continue wearing the temps until they came back.

GOOD LUCK!!
