Growing up I had extremely crooked teeth. I had to wear braces for almost 5 years (grade 8-12). When I finally got them off, my teeth were straight. Now for some reason since time has passed about 8 years or so now, I am finding that my teeth aren%26#039;t as straight as they once were and are going slightly crooked again especially at the front. They aren%26#039;t straight and attractive and now I feel the same way as I used to before AND when I had braces. I am afraid to smile because I don%26#039;t want people to see my ugly teeth. I can%26#039;t understand why this is happening. After all the teasing I endured before and while having braces, now my teeth seem to be going crooked again. I seen some pictures of myself next to my sister who HAS braces and my teeth don%26#039;t look very nice at all - I hate my teeth. Do you think that crooked teeth are ugly?

I think it%26#039;s normal for your teeth to move around after you get your braces off. I would advise you to try using a retainer and then to contact your orthodontist to see if there%26#039;s anything he/she can do.
As for crooked teeth being ugly, I wouldn%26#039;t worry too much about it. Nobody%26#039;s teeth are perfectly straight, and I%26#039;ve seen some really beautiful people with crooked teeth. Don%26#039;t let it harm your self-esteem.

Reply:If your teeth are just a little crooked and you dont want to wear braces, you can get those invisible things. I hear they really work and no one can really see them unless they stare at your mouth all day. But having crooked teeth isnt all that bad unless there is a huge gap right up front.

Crooked teeth.....?
I have a little bit of chrookedness and fruit-stained teeth...i have whitened them though...does the crookedness really matter if your trying to impress someone?

If you want to impress someone just be nice to them and respect yourself, it does not matter what you look like...if you are uncomfortable with your teeth though, I suggest you see a Dentist..they can do wonders....good look :)

im about to have braces fitted in a month and i have to have to healty teeth pulled out.this really worries me.anyone with same experience?also i have heard that after treatmant teeth can go in the position they were.is this true?if is what is the point to spend all that money for nothing?please help

and after you go thru your whole thing with braces you will HAVE to get a retainer...theres no option unfortunatly. and what the purpose of the retainer is, is to heal the roots of your teeth which have been shifted around so much...so the retainer keeps them in place for the bone to reheal its self

You have the option of direct or indirect veneers. Direct veneers are also called bondings or resins. They are composite or plastic like material. Indirect Veneers are porcelain veneers. Both procedure will need you to have cosmetic recountouring of the teeth and depending on the type of porcelain used, the amount of tooth structure removed is different. I%26#039;ve had braces, which makes it so my teeth don%26#039;t look like my dad%26#039;s THANK GOD, but after the braces came off my teeth settled and one of my lower teeth is set back behind the others. Usually veneers can be placed on the top 6 front teeth and crowns ( porcelain over metal ) are placed on the back teeth.
Veneers are considered cosmetic and are usually more expensive and not typically covered by insurance.
I am not sure what your reasons to not wanting braces are, but here is another thing to consider. When teeth are misaligned, sometimes braces are helpful in not only correcting this misalignment, but also correcting your bite if it is not normal either.
My best advice to you would be to consult with a DDS who specializes in cosmetic dentistry and who can also show you pictures of patients he has performed veneers on for cosmetic purposes. These veneers are fabricated at a dental lab the dentist uses and their workmanship is just as important as the dentist%26#039;s since they are ones actually making them. If you do decide to go with veneers, consult with a few DDS%26#039;s and see their patient pictures of work they have done.
This procedure will usually take 2 appointments...the first one would be for the dentist to prepare the teeth. This is done by shaving a little off each surface of the tooth so the veneer has room to be placed on the tooth. You would leave the office with temporary restorations on the teeth that were prepared. These temporary crowns/veneers are usually made out of a strong acrylic material that are temporarily glued onto the teeth. While wearing these you would need to be careful from chewing on or biting on hard foods as they can break and you would have to have the temps redone. At the second appt. the veneers/crowns would be placed given that the shape and shade are right and they fit perfectly. At that time the tooth would be prepared....dried and etched to receive the permanent restorations. If for some reason, they are not correct, they would be sent back to the lab until they were correct and you would continue wearing the temps until they came back.

my top front 4 teeth are really crooked, ive looked into braces and they estimated 6000 dollars because my whole top is off i guess, only the front four are noticeable though. Do you think it is possible to get them removed to get a parshall, or does anyone have any ideas that are more affordable?

even though know one ever commented or agreed with me on how ugly I felt they were , it still got me down.
any way In the end and at 28 , I got braces ... I felt from the minuet I got them and I saw some change that I look better even with braces on them.
Its something I wish I had done a long time ago , my self esteem has benefited so much .
but even with braces on friends still would say they never thought my teeth were bad anyway ,hadn%26#039;t really noticed , couldnt understand why Id bothered to spend money. they just understood how unhappy I was, which said to me that I obviously took more notice of there appearance than the rest of the world ,
I personally have never thought anything of anyone else%26#039;s teeth if there not perfect , how ever crooked, never looked at them as ugly , not really noticed them .... I would if they were black and rotting , but not clean ....
I do sympathize with how it can make someone feel unhappy with themselves , but I think that its only there view of them selves , not how other people see them .

I have 2 crooked teeth one on my upper row and one on the bottom row. They aren%26#039;t necessarily crooked up are pushed back farther than the rest of my teeth. Is there a treatment cheaper than braces? It would be kind of a waste of $$$ to try and fix 2 crooked teeth.

im a hs freshman and have been having my underbite with a crooked one crooked teeth going inward plus 2 sharp fangs symmetrically on the bottom. the crooked tooth has become stained since my toothbrush cant reach that area. ive had braces until 6th grade but it came back to normal. 2 yrs ago m ortho doc suggested i either wait til im 18 yrs old to see what happens (either i get an underbite surgery where they crack my jaw or i get braces again) they say 18 to make sure im fully grown and no longer have jaw movements.
so my 2 problems: what do i do about my tooth and is it worth waiting til im a senior?

The underbite is hard to deal with orthodontically. Most often it requires jaw correction surgery (which could leave one or both sides permanently numb). For the stained tooth, you can sometimes purchase metallic tooth scrapers from the drugstore. Scrape at the surface to remove stain. You can also use baking soda on a damp cloth scrubbed in small circles. If done daily, it will begin to remove the stain slowly (nothing works quickly, except professional cleaning)
