Are crooked teeth genetic?

You inherit a susceptibility to them. They come from your genes for big teeth combining with your other genes for a small jawbone. That type of mismatch is what makes orthodontists rich.

they can be. but you can also get braces. I got my crooked teeth from my dad, but I have braces on now.

Reply:Both of my parents had fairly straight teeth and so does my brother. Yet somehow I had crooked teeth.
Reply:No, they are not. Sometime overbites run in families though. Cavities, lack of or if you are prone to, can be genetic.
Reply:I think so. I don't think it necessarily has to come from your mom and dad, but could be someone else in your family way down the line.

Reply:Both of my parents have perfectly straight teeth. All four of their children have crooked teeth. My mom has an average-sized mouth and my dad has an unusually small mouth. It seems we inherited my dad's mouth size and my mom's teeth. I only have 24 teeth in my mouth now and they are tight.
Reply:it is possible, but if u get braces, %26amp; if ur Kid(s) have crooked teeth, %26amp; they get braces, then when they have kid(s) they shdn't have crooked teeth.

i have a huge gap in my two front teeth and so does my mom and dad.


but im going to get braces on the 11th


so im kinda excited :)





(however i have a twin sister who has perfect teeth, her smile is completely flawless. i think she may have gotten it from my grandmother.)
Reply:Both my parents had fairly strait teeth but very weak teeth , I ended up with crooked teeth but very strong teeth.
Reply:They very well can be genetic however there are other factor's that would cause crooked teeth such as thumb sucking or always having a binky when you were little just to name a few.
Reply:I don't know. But my dad and I have the same exact crooked tooth. The same tooth, same direction, same everything. I think it might have to do with the size of your mouth, that you inherit.
